Diva Zombie ...Part 2!

Hey guys!

Exciting news. The master mind Marvin Suarez is working on Zombie Chronicles: The Infected - part 2! And he has graciously given me a speaking part! :) Yippeee. I appeared in the first episode of ZC last year as a zombie extra - which we later named "Zombie Diva". This time around I'll be appearing in a very fun fast-paced scene where you'll see my character's transformation from Sin Dee, Living Diva --- to ---- Zombie Diva! :)

I had such a blast filming my part this weekend. Everyone on the crew was just so friendly, creative, and cooperative. It was great seeing some old faces from the original ZC cast. It's like we're forming our own little twisted zombie family. Heeheee. (Although some very much loved zombie family members were missing - I send you my love!)

I'm so pumped to see the final product! Last Zombie Chronicles came out so great. I had chills watching it even though I had seen most of it being filmed. Marvin - many props! This horror fan knows what's good... and your zombie flicks are a must see!

Super Sinful Updates... It's been a while!

It's been quite some time since I've last written in my blog. I've been MIA from the modeling performing world, but so much has happened since. I was promoted at work, got engaged to my best friend, and moved into my own cute studio apartment. Life has been a whirlwind lately, but in a great way! :)

Once all the madness ends I'll pick up where I left off. Watch out! Sin Dee will be modeling again soon enough!

Here's a bit of an update on my Toxic Toppers ... I have created a few special cake tops for some special people this year and would like to share my creations. Two for my friend Sara's children (Sesame Street and Spiderman), one for my friend Val's boy (Transformers), and one for my photographer friend Richie (Nudie girl on camera lens). I have dabbled in birthday cakes this year, but would love to continue creating goth inspired wedding cake toppers. Underworld - Blood on the Yule Ball

Wednesday Dec, 23rd marked UNDERWORLD's third annual Blood on the Yule Ball. It was a fantastic goth/industrial holiday bash complete with Queen of the Yule Ball pageant - which yours truly took part in of course! I sprinkled myself with glitter and sprayed white on my mane to create the perfect "Goth Snow Queen" costume for the contest. Thanks to all my friends and the others at Underworld who thought my costume rocked, I WON! :) I won a gift certificate to Gothic Renaissance, a bottle of True Blood, free admission to Underworld for the year and tons of compliments! Besides winning the contest, I had a blast that night! Everyone was in such great spirits. I am a true believer - the holidays bring out the best in everyone.

For the past few months I have been working with a new web show as their host. The show is called Twilight Vision, and as the head honcho Kevin says, "it has nothing to do with that shitty vampire book and movie". It is a show created to document the happenings of the underground/subculture/alternative scene. They have shot everything from movie premiers to alternative beauty pageants. So far I have worked on three episodes: the movie premiere of the Death of Alice Blue - a vampire flick with a dark humour twist; the Original Sin Cider pin-up poster contest; and most recently the movie premiere of Kids Go to the Woods... Kids Get Dead - a campy slasher film with an Elvira-esque host, guts and gore, and silly humour. Check out the first two episodes below.

Fangoria and Gwar - a little girl's dream come true

Friday, June 5th I had the pleasure of modeling for Redbuttafly in the X-Treme fashion show at the Fangoria Convention in NYC's Jacob Javits Center - and it freakin' rocked! It especially rocked because it was co-hosted by one of my all time favorite bands, GWAR! Boy was I psyched when I saw we were sharing a dressing room and the stage with them! GWAR even seemed to take a liking to me since I was transformed into a decaying zombie for the runway. What an experience... definitely a night to remember.

I just got cast in another zombie film! Woohooo! This time I start out as a "rocker chick" who gets killed and turns into a zombie. Sounds like tons of fun! The film is by Anxiety Films called : Ghoul Scout Zombie Massacre. I'll keep you updated of course.

"I'll be your zombie diva".

Some people have a fear of the decomposing walking dead. I on the other hand, would like to be their friend. :) I have always had a fascination with creepy dead things and horror movies. When approached to pose as a zombie for the very talented Art-i-ficial photography, I was thrilled. And that's when it all started... I am now part-time undead Sin Dee, Diva zombie! hahahah...

Art-i-ficial's photo was posted by Zombie Pin-Up at http://www.zombiepinups.com/! Shortly after I posed as a rotting corpse for Richard Scalzo and again for Art-ficial (this time wrapped in plastic wrap in an attempt to keep me fresh!).

Recently, I had the pleasure of really living out my new zombie self by being an extra in the short film Zombie Chronicles: The Infected (http://www.whataretheinfected.com/). You can read my bio and view the trailer which features me cornering and eating a victim! I am in two scenes total where I attack innocent victims during a zombie epidemic. The film will be released directly to DVD and made available for sale on the website. I had tons of fun filming this. The director and staff were so fun, and the makeup artist did an amazing job. I really looked like my throat had been ripped out! :) A twisted little girl's dream come true!

I am meeting with Eric of Anxiety Films soon in hopes of being a zombie in his upcoming short film as well! I can't wait!

And... to top it all off, the NYC Zombie Crawl is back in full effect! May 31st people will meet in Brooklyn to transform into Zombies. We will then go on a pub crawl through Brooklyn ending at an after party for the undead. Previous parties included contest, zombie models/burlesque, and live music. I'm definitely taking part this year and hope to see some of you there.

Welcoming Tricks Into My Heart

I am soooooo super excited to welcome a new beautiful baby boy kitten into my home. I responded to a craigslist posting a few days ago and after a day of suffering I was told I could adopt the little fella'. He is the most fluffy and adorable little creature I have ever laid eyes on. He is black and 7 weeks old.

I went out yesterday and purchase (A LOT) of new kitty cat supplies. A leopard print bed, a scratching post, a litter box and litter, two mouse toys, some bath-time wipes, a brush, a collar, and a little leopard print tunnel toy he can run through! I'm so excited to pick him up Saturday and spend the weekend playing with him.

But not worries! I have not neglected my turtle, Scotty. I bought him a brand new tank (twice the size of his current tank), a new filter, and a tiki toy that Richie insisted I buy him. :)

I hope to one day when I move into a bigger dwelling I can adopt a second kitten and name him/her Treats. Get it? Tricks and Treats :) I am really set on my second kitten being a disabled cat. I care so much about animals and hate to think that no one would adopt a cute furry buddy just because he is missing an eye or a leg. They need love too. Tricks is perfect and healthy, but I plan on adopting a special cat in the future.

Family Ties and Love Knots

It's sad to say this out loud, but my very dear uncle Julio Rodriguez passed away on April 16th due to a rare terminal brain disease. This being said, I've gone through a lot in the past few weeks and have done A LOT of thinking. It became so clear how important family can be and how true the "blood is thicker than water" saying is. I went down to Florida for the viewing, wake, and burial. This is when reality set it. I never imagined having to hug and hold so many of my family members. Showing them I was there for them and loved them no matter what. I wanted to do whatever I could to make everyone's pain go away. It was amazing to see my cousins and I reunite the way we did, as if it hadn't been a long time since we last saw each other. To comfort one another and say "I love you" over and over. I am usually not affected by sad situations and it is usually thrown in my face. Someone will say "How can you not be crying? You're such a bitch", but someone has to be the sane/strong one while everyone breaks down. I shed a few tears during my time in Florida. Seeing my uncle in his shell in the casket, then watching the pain of my Aunt and Cousin. It hurt inside to know that one day I would have to feel that way should my mother or lover pass away.

My trip to Florida lead to deep deep thinking. How do you throw away true love, when you know you'll never find anything like it again? I decided to be strong and forgive (but not forget), because I want the type of love my Aunt and Uncle had for 25yrs... and I know I already found it. I want nothing more than to be happy... and true love makes me happy. I found that special only-in-the movies type of connection and I'll be damned if challenges and struggles will take that away from me. In my life, when it rains it pours, but when the clouds clear out it is painfully beautiful. It just takes time for the clouds to clear. I'm willing to be patient and put forth the effort.

Basically, I've decided to give love a chance. I've learned that family will ALWAYS be there, I will always be there for them, they come first, and they are the most special part of your life. I have decided to keep better contact with my family. Particularly my cousins. I would hate to grow apart from such wonderful and strong people.

Curvalicious conflicts...

I've had something on my mind lately....

Size and body shape has always been an internal conflict for me as a model. As a pin up model, the genre embraces full figures and curves, however the general modeling industry doesn't. I have gained some weight since I first began modeling, and I've received mixed reactions to this. Some people love the new bootylicious me ... some think I look overweight and unfit. With people telling me two different things, it is harder to further my modeling career.

Which "look" to do go for? Should I choose how I feel most comfortable or should I make sacrifices for my career and look the way the want me to? Do I look the way men want me to or do I look the way photographers want me to? It's a hard decision and working on a woman's body is hard enough. I could only wish people weren't as superficial as they truly are. Unfortunately, relationships begin from a physical attraction. And in the modeling industry, your jobs are based on your looks. Which is most important, the career or the love life?

It's sad to know that no matter how amazing your personality, you do judge a book by its cover.

Cut it out and cut them off

I am known for quickly cutting people out of my life who do me wrong. I am not the person to give someone a second chance. As a friend (or more) I am dedicated and give these people in my life my all.. or as much as I can to make sure they are happy. When someone proves that they have taken my friendship for granted or do not respect me, then I quickly erase them from my life. Unfortunately for me, this is a common theme in my life. I love and give love... then eventually it bites me in the ass. It is more traumatic this way because I am so loyal and dedicated to people, that when they do hurt me, it hurts about 50 times more than it should.

In the past six months I have been faced with many life changing decisions which included cutting a few people out of my life. Unfortunately, some of these people were the most important people in my life. It was one of the most painful times of my life... but I always know these decisions are for the best. They can only make you stronger.

Nowadays it is harder to become close to anyone and trust just anyone. I have tried building relationships/friendships, but luckily for me... I've come to find out sooner than later that most people in this world play games. Most people lie, are selfish, and could care less about another person. It makes me wonder if there are any genuine and loyal people out there. Someone who is truly brutally honest from day one, someone who will be a true friend, someone who cares about the happiness of others, and someone who doesn't play games. I can only cross my fingers that I can come across more of these positive characters and invite them into my life.

The Mod of my Bod

I've created a monster. ... and I like it. It was only a few years ago when I met my dearest friend Justine in college. Your average blond-bombshell-good-girl-next-door-athlete. Why we became friends? I guess opposites attract would be safe to say. Well, when our friendship was still young and fresh, my polo wearing buddy asked me to take her to Claire's. I suppose my metal adorned ears had inspired her to ditch the two studs and add on a few holes. After that, I think Justine was hooked. A few more trips to Claire's for lobe hole punching and she was ready for a real piercing shop. At this point I had played around with piercing some more and had added on a nose ring and septum ring to my bod mod collection. Finally, we made our date to head out to my favorite piercing spot in NYC. Venus by Maria Tash. With my hottie friend Rob working there we knew we were in good hands. Justine pierced her Tragus (the fun little bit of cartilage you have right by your ear hole) and I got my Rook pierced (A nice nook and cranny of cartilage in your ear). Here I found a cool ear piercing diagram:

Anywho, we bonded over needles and to my surprise... Justine asked for more. And what better timing. I see this fun MySpace bulletin from Venus that says BMEzine is coming into their shop on Wed. Feb 11th to take pics and videos for their site. All piercings are discounted! Yahoo! It was destiny. We HAD to get more holes in our little bodies. After all Justine needs to live up to her newest nickname (given to her by her mommy): Swiss Cheese... or Swissy as I like to say.

Since we had previous plans to have our monthly girls night out that same day (Justine and Teela are my college buds and we do monthly dinner nights - so girly I know)... we ditched the fancy shmancy dinner plans and voted to get piercings instead. Did I mention I love these gals.

Lucky for us Rob was working again, and even Meg was there! They're both super talented. :) By far my favorite piercers. Justine got a Rook piercing, Teela got her Conch (not as dirty as it sounds), and I got another nostril piercing right next to the one I already have.

Fun times! I love the ability to express your individuality and appreciation of the bod you have by testing the limits of fear and pain, and altering the way your body looks. Next steps to accessorizing my skin: a superior franeum piercing (smiely) and 3 - 4 new tattoos. Stay tuned!

Toxic Toppers - Work in progress...

The hill needs to be shaved smooth and painted over again. And the mirror (moon) behind the couple is optional. I also, received these fun beads with tombstones painted on that I might add to the ribbon. And of course the entire thing will be sprayed over with silver glitter. :)

The Temple of Sin

Your body is your temple. I wholly believe that people should respect their bodies and should love themselves. Your body is all you've got and you should not take that for granted. This past year I began to realize this more and more as I watched my own body deteriorate. I made the decision last year to better my self and my body in small steps. I had begun eating more whole and organic foods, less sugar and fatty foods, I started taking yoga classes and focusing on every little ache - each warning my body is giving me.

Unfortunately, that didn't seem to be enough. I need to really shape up and take better care of myself. This weekend I passed a kidney stone! Yuck! and time and time again people are telling me "boy you've gained a lot of weight". When I went on a bike ride with my hubby, I had to stop every few blocks to catch my breath. It's time I make BIG changes.

This year I've decided to:
- Cleanse my system - I decided on a liquid cleansing, where I will only have liquids (milk, water, broth, etc)for a few days, then slowly introduce my body to my new diet
- Change my diet - eat mostly whole and organic foods, avoid processed foods, eat less red meat, cut back A LOT on Sugar and Salt, avoid fried anything, and drink more water
- Cut back on drinking - liquor hasn't been very good to me... to my mind or body. I'm going to take it easy and have a drink or two at social events. Besides, it bloats.
- Get off my ass! - Besides yoga, I need to do a lot of cardio. I'm going to walk as much as I can. I also plan on dusting off my stepping machine. I might even join a gym.
- LOVE MYSELF! - I'll be taking a lot more time for ME. I will decline on social events after a rough day at work and curl up under the covers with a good book. :)

I will keep you all updated on my progress. I hope you decide to treat your body like your temple before it's too late. Love yourself and others will follow ;)

The loss of a Pin Up Legend

On December 11th, 2008 our beloved Queen of Pin-Up, Bettie Page passed away at age 85 after suffering a heart attack which lead to the rapid downfall of her health.
Bettie Page was adored by many, including myself - due to her legendary influence in the popularity of fetish and pin-up. She was the first woman of her kind and the leader in a new sexual mindset for all women. Bettie was the first model to bare all in bondage gear and cheesecake pin-up images for photography and camera clubs in the good 'ol US of A during the 1950's. She was a sex kitten in a time where wearing a skirt higher than knee length was taboo. By 1955 the curvaceous Bettie was declared Playboy's Miss January. Bravo! Even after her "disappearance" from the public eye, fame continued on as Bettie's iconic image continued to tease the masses by appearing on t-shirts, trading cards, calendars, journals, cigarette cases, ... you name it. Our Pin-Up Queen will never leave our memories or sights.

Thank you, Bettie for liberating women and creating a world in which sexuality is something to be celebrated. The end of Bettie WILL NOT be the end of an era where women are free to flaunt their curves... may we all take inspiration from the curvy raven haired beauty.

Wraping Up This Sin-filled Year

With December speeding along, I figured I should share some updates (professional and personal).

*** New Domain name is up and running! My website is going through a revamp, but in the meanwhile we've switched the domain name to the super cute: www.sindee.me

-The Lola's Rags Fashion show at BLVD on 11/29 went very very well! :) It was tons of fun. I was the first little one to strut my stuff and when someone didn't show, I was asked to walk again! Yahoo! I've always love Raquel's stuff, but my little flapper outfit was soooooooo cute this time! I was really feeling that roaring 20's vibe.

-The NY Pin Up Photography Meetup Group is begining to plan our second Big Tease party. :) Last year's was such a success, I can't wait to see what this year will be like. So far we've got the date and place picked - January 24th at Fontana's. Yippee!

-My hubby Jeff is coming to town to visit soon. I'm super excited to see him again. I haven't seen him since October! It's been way to long. Luckily he'll be staying at my place while he's here.

-The day of Sin's birth is coming. Teehee. My birthday is January 17th and I can't wait! I've got many festivies planed which I will share once January is here. In the meanwhile check out my Amazon wish list. Hahahhaah.

The Toxicity!

As a little side project/business I have been creating custom cake toppers for wedding and birthdays. Of course it's not the usual bride and groom dolls on top of a cake! The cake toppers are as original as you are! From creepy and gothic to super colorful and quirky.

I will be opening an Etsy shop and Ebay shop very very soon. So please stay tuned for links to both. I will post ready-made toppers for sale here.

In the meanwhile I am excepting requests for custom orders. So, if you have wedding, big birthday (21st, 1st, 60th, whatever!), baby shower, bridal shower, etc etc coming up and you want to add your own special touch to your cake. I can help you out! :) Please keep in mind requests should be sent about 2 months prior to your event date.

As of right now custom toppers range anywhere from $40 - $100 depending on how ellaborate your design (plus shipping if needed). All cake toppers are made from foam, lace, ribbon, plastic, and paint.

Upcoming NYC Pin Up Group - Shoot and Meeting

Just a heads up to all the pin-up enthusiasts I know. ;)

I will be modeling (99% sure - considering I still need a ride) at the NYC Pin Up Photography's photo shoot this Sunday, October 12th at the American Airpower Museum. I'm pretty psyched about this shoot. I will finally live out the true pin-up model life. I will be modeling with a few other pretty faces with real WWII aircrafts and trucks. What can be more exciting?!

Then, the following Tuesday, October 14th is the group's usual Monthly meeting at Otto's Shrunken Head. This is where new models and photographers looking to join the group can come in and meet the existing member. We mingle for a while, have a few drinks, share pictures, and network. Then we spend the rest of the night discussing "group business". This usually includes ideas for our next photo shoot and brainstorming for our next Big Tease fundraising event.

Feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions about the group. I am assistant organizer after all. ;)

However, I must say - although I am assistant organizer and we are always looking for models, I can not say that I can automatically get you a gig, just because you're my friend. :( Business is business and Sin is not that powerful yet. Hahah!

When friends reveal foes

I've had a quite interesting time evaluating my life lately. I've decided to take a step back and really look at the way I have been living my life - from the outside, in. Unfortunately, I came to the realization that a lot of the negativity is not negativity I bring upon myself. It is actually the people I surround myself with. After a few unfortunate events (in a row) concerning friends, friendships, and new acquaintances. I realized one of the most important decisions you make in your life is deciding who you let into your life.

There are a few sayings that come to mind "You are only as smart as the people you surround yourself with", "You are as fat as your friends", "The strength of the whole is only as strong as the weakest member".

If I continue to surround myself with immature, irrational, reckless people; I will only continue to be miserable, unhealthy, and most of all emotionally exhausted. Although I have always been careful when "choosing" friends, I have decided to be more careful with EVERYONE I let into my life.

I am not saying I'm better than anyone. This is not an ego trip. I must defend myself before those of you reading this roll their pretty little eyes into the back of their heads. I am merely sharing my recent revelation - the people that you surround yourself with actually make up the person that you are.

When opportunity knocks, you answer right? Well, hell, I'm gonna invite him in for dinner! It may seem cliche but my goal before I die: Travel the world! I know I know, everyone says the same thing. But damn it! I'm gonna do it. So far I've been hitting up the good 'ol US of A - The east coast of course, Florida, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Chicago, Las Vegas. I decided some time ago it was time to venture out a bit further and I invested in a handy little Passport. I was about to go on a family trip to Canada but when my beloved up and moved to Florida, I had to choose between visiting him or Canada - I chose him. :)

Now, I've just decided on my next two trips and they are quite exciting. First off, most of you may or may not have guess that I am a full blooded Hispanic lady - Puerto Rican to be exact. So, this coming February I will be headed to Ponce, Puerto Rico with my mother for the very first time to get a look at my home land. We are going to go during Carnival season, so it should be tons of fun! Yipee. Then...

My dear friend from college has asked me to go on a very special trip with her. Next July I will be taking an outdoor adventure with her in..... ALASKA! Holy cow, right? And get this, the trip will include mountain biking, hiking, and kayaking - 6 days and 5 nights. Not your ordinary vacation, but I love it. I actually love extreme sports, so this is just so very exciting for me. I've always been fond of rock climbing, mountain biking, white water rafting. Such fun!

The only downfall - No more impulsive purchases :( No more Betsey Johnson purses, thrift shop dresses, and unnecessary dinners out. No more booze! Oh boy! Hahaha. I am going to be a tight wad this year and I'm going to save every penny I can. This is the opportunity to live my dream. What a blog that will make.

All that Jazz

If there's one thing not many people know about me, it's my love of Jazz music, particularly old Jazz. Ella Fitzgerald would be my favorite female singer. The songs are always full of emotion and warmth. They're classic and relaxing. There's nothing more enjoyable than playing one of my vintage Ella Fitzgerald records in my room while painting or cleaning.

I thought Jazz like this was dead, until I woke up in my dizzy hung-over state this morning to the Today Show. On the Concert Series stage was Frank Sinatra reincarnated! What a voice. What charm. What Jazz. His version of "That's Life" had me hooked. I am not one to follow pop music or anything popular for that matter, so I had no idea who this fantastic young man was that the crowd of blondes were swooning over.

Rockabilly Woes :(

This weekend was the Rockabilly Festival at Coney Island and boy did I miss out. :( Bummer. Brandon (from the NY Pin Up Photography Group) and I were supposed to go together, but I had to bail. Unfortunately, my boss forgot to sign my timesheet this pay period, which meant I got paid a base pay but none of my over time - I'll get it added on to my next check, but base pay minus all my bills = zero dollars! So, I was left with no spending money. Boo hoo! So.... that means no going out for fun times with Sin Dee until my next paycheck. I would have made it to today's festivities at Coney Island since they were free, but I spent the night at Marilyn and my brother Zoth's house and didn't get home until late. All the fun was scheduled to begin at 2pm and Brandon and I didn't figure things out until 5pm-ish. No time at all for Sin Dee to get all purrty and bombshell like for a Rockabilly appearance.

I sure hope my gal Kita had fun though! Kita's a member of the NY Pin Up Photography Group as well and she was competeing in the Pin Up contest. I sure hope she represented the group and had some fun doing it! :) Brandon and I (as organizer and assistant organizer of the group) really wish we could have been there to show her our support. ... and Raquel of Lola's Rags (http://www.lolasrags.com/) was showing some of her fantastic vintage inspired clothing! Raquel's styled many of the NY Pin Up Photography Group's shoots and the pictures always came out fab! - Especially the Film Noir shoot, that was one of my favs (and I wasn't even modeling in it, ha!).

Anywho, a super bummer of a weekend, but I'm sure everyone else had a blast. I had a nice time at Zoth and Marilyn's anyway. :)

Welcome to the world of Sin

A bit about me if you haven't yet met or heard of Sin Dee. I'm an average 20-something. Full-time corporate rat with two degrees in Marketing (focusing in Fashion), but above all I'm a part-time model, some-time musician, occasional crafty gal (oh yeah! and Digital/Graphic Design student). I love modeling and that's probably what led you to my blog. I'm that tiny, curvy gal who's gone through too many hair colors to count. I usually model pin-up or soft-fetish, but I'm basically an edgy, tat-ed, pierced, all around fun gal to work with - so basically, I'm up for any type of photo shoot (no nudes, sorry!).

Other than that I spend a lot of time with my mother who I love dearly. My boyfriend (very soon to be fiance - well, you might as well call him that!) just moved to Florida, so I've been flying down there every few weeks to spend some time with the love of my life. We just celebrated our four year anniversary! Can you believe it? If you knew us you would actually be nodding your head saying "Yeah, I can. No big deal". We're that cute. Hahaha!

Anywho, otherwise, I've done a few interviews you should read if you'd really like to get into my head. You can find links to all of them on my myspace blog.
